Canadian youth don’t vote in sufficient numbers to make their voices heard. But this group of Political Science students are determined to see that change.
First Vote is a one-day experience created by youth, for youth; designed to empower young people to engage in their communities, influence government decisions and to get out and vote. After listening to the speakers and guests, student, Bert Bossert, said he understands that even though he may agree with his family, he can still speak for himself.
He called First Vote an amazing opportunity and said there are many young people, like himself, who have basic knowledge about what’s happening but don’t fully understand why or how.
The 18-year-old said he will definitely be voting in the upcoming federal election.
